So yesterday and today were the first day of classes . . . and I think I'm gonna have a TON of work to do this semester. No slacking off like I did all last spring!
Anthro will be pretty basic -- it's an intro course -- so that's cool. And reasonably interesting.
My seminar sounds like it will be downright depressing: A HoScho course about HIV/AIDS in Africa. With an anthro professor who has actually done fieldwork in Botswana. It only meets once a week, which means that we're assigned about half a textbook for reading each week, which means that if I procrastinate I am SCREWED!! But again, I think it will be absolutely fascinating. Even the little bit that we discussed yesterday was pretty cool.
Then I have a course on the History of Imperial Spain. Kind of a wierd class, I know, but I love the time period (1400-1800 ish) and I want to do a history minor, so there you go. Except that the professor is in his first year here at DPU, and he can't be more than thirty -- and you know that really nerdy dorky kid from high school? He's totally that kid. Real nice guy, but probably one of the most socially awkward people ever!
Then Restoration Literature, which I'm really excited about, particularly as our first reading assignment is JANE AUSTEN, whom I love and adore. So that's pretty cool.
And finally, a once a week meeting (for class credit) about how to be a writing center tutor, which I'm including as a class because I definitely had a lot of homework for it this week. Grrr. I just want to edit papers and add something to my resume! Leave me alone!
Anyway, that's enough of this pointless entry. Going to read some more Sense and Sensibility and then GO TO BED.
Night!
